                       Is Offering A New Dental PPO Plan

 For those that did not enroll in the new CareFirst Dental PPO this summer you still can enroll during Open Enrollment in November. The plan will take effect on January 1, 2008. The City of Baltimore is offering a new Preferred (PPO) Dental Plan to employees and their eligible dependents. The new dental plan will be administered by CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst).

 This new plan will be a dental buy-up option, which means that the City and the employee will share the cost of the premium.  The City will continue to offer the current Dental DHMO Plan at no cost to employees.

                             THE CAREFIRST PREFERRED DENTAL PPO PLAN WILL OFFER:

 FREEDOM OF CHOICE

The City’s new Preferred (PPO) dental plan allows you to select any dentist in-network or out-of-network.  Over 2600 dentists in Maryland participate in CareFirst’s Preferred Dental Network.  There are over 260 network dentists in Baltimore City. 

COST SAVINGS

By selecting an in-network provider, you will receive considerable cost savings due to the plan’s pre-negotiated fees.

  How To Find A Preferred Dentist

You can access CareFirst’s online directory 24-hours a day at www.carefirst.com to find a participating dentist.  Then follow three (3) easy steps to start your search:  (1)  Under Solution Center, select “Find a Doctor”      (2)  Under Search By Provider Type, select “Dental” (3)   Under Dental Plan, select “Regional Preferred Dental (PPO).”    Then continue to follow the prompts.
